A Fall Foliage Event for the Whole Family Layout 1

From September 17th through October 16th, the Hobo Railroad of Lincoln, NH will be hosting their “Hobo Harvest Time Express” event. During this time their property takes on an entirely new look! First, there is the addition of a farm stand stocked with New Hampshire made products along with a farm yard full of games for all ages. Patrons can enjoy things like pumpkin bowling, ring toss, horse shoes, bean bag toss, sack races and corn hole. There is also an antique tractor display. For the past three years, Annalee has been helping the folks at the Hobo Railroad by building the “Cornstalk Critters” that also decorate their farm yard. These life sized scarecrows make fun photo ops for everyone stopping by!

Building Custom Scarecrows

This year’s timely theme for the cornstalk critters is called “Scarecrows of the Oval Office”. Included in the mix of straw-filled characters are George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, General Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy with his wife Jacqueline Kennedy and their two young children Caroline Kennedy & John Kennedy Jr. You’ll also find Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton with a saxophone, along with the two candidates running for President in 2016, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. All of the scarecrows have traditional Annalee Doll faces! They are posed and dressed in such a way that makes them easy to recognize. The famous cornstalk critters will be on display and available for photo ops between 10:00am and 3:00pm daily.

Here’s a sneak peek at the process…

Ride The Train

For those looking to enjoy the fall foliage, the one hour and twenty minute round-trip train rides along the Pemigewassett River between Lincoln, North Woodstock and Woodstock, NH afford wonderful views of the autumn colors.  While on the train passengers will also enjoy “A Taste of New Hampshire” with complimentary samples of various New Hampshire made items such as maple drops, pumpkin granola or apple cider.
