Turning Memories into a Dream Come True
Some brides dream of a beach wedding or an elegant ballroom reception. For Helene Frigo, there was only ever one dream. A Christmas wedding.
Not just a December wedding, but a wedding that felt like stepping into the ultimate Christmas movie—filled with twinkling lights, glowing trees, wreaths, poinsettias, candlelight, family traditions, and the kind of magic that makes people smile the moment they walk through the door.
At the center of that dream was something that had been part of Helene’s life for as long as she could remember: Annalee.
For years, Helene and her mother had shared a tradition that many collectors know well. Every holiday season brought the excitement of discovering new Annalee designs, hunting for treasured pieces, and carefully arranging beloved dolls throughout their home. The dolls weren’t simply decorations. They were memories.
“I’ll never see an Annalee and not instantly think of my mom and Christmas,” Helene says. “And those are two of my favorite things.”
That deep connection would eventually become part of one of the most important days of her life.
A Wedding Written in Cozy
When Helene began planning her December 2025 wedding to David, she never considered any season other than Christmas. “I feel like there was never really another option for me besides Christmas,” she says. “I’ve always loved everything about Christmastime—the lights, the music, the decorations, the cozy feeling, all of it.”
Christmas had always been something special she shared with her mother. Together they celebrated the season with enthusiasm, traditions, and a love for the details that make the holidays unforgettable.
“My mom and I have always made such a big deal out of Christmas together, so being able to plan a wedding during that season honestly felt magical and really personal to me.”
Helene wasn’t interested in following wedding trends. She wanted guests to walk into her reception and feel like they had entered a holiday wonderland.
“I didn’t want a wedding that felt trendy or overly modern—I wanted it to feel warm, nostalgic, over-the-top Christmasy, and, honestly, just happy.”
The vision quickly took shape. Poinsettias. Wreaths. Rich Christmas colors. Candlelight. Glowing trees. Holiday music. And, of course, Annalee.
An Annalee Love Story
For Helene and her mother, collecting Annalee has always been more than a hobby. It’s a shared tradition. “There’s nothing we get more excited about than going Annalee hunting at local HomeGoods stores or setting them all up together at Christmas,” Helene says. “It’s always been our thing.”
Like many collectors, the thrill wasn’t only in displaying the dolls—it was in the search. The stories. The memories. The moments spent together. One favorite memory perfectly captures their enthusiasm. “When my mom visited the Annalee Gift Shop, I made her FaceTime me for probably an hour so we could perfectly curate her shopping cart before she brought everything home.”
So when wedding planning began, incorporating Annalee wasn’t a difficult decision. It felt completely natural. The dolls had helped create some of her happiest Christmas memories. Why wouldn’t they be part of one of the happiest days of her life?
An Announcement with Christmas Magic
Even before guests received their invitations, Helene found a way to weave Annalee into the celebration. Using an Annalee Advent Calendar as part of her “save the date” announcement, she gave family and friends an early glimpse into the magical Christmas wedding she was planning.
“My Annalee obsession shows through in basically everything,” she laughs. “So I knew if I was going to have a classic Christmas wedding, the announcement needed to be a little sneak peek of that. It combined Christmas magic with something really personal to me.”
It was the first hint that this wouldn’t be an ordinary wedding.
The Surprise of a Lifetime
Then came the moment that transformed a beautiful wedding vision into a dream come true. When the Annalee elves heard about Helene’s wedding, they offered to create a custom wedding design featuring Helene, David, and their beloved dog, Lemon.
When Helene heard about the design, it was almost too exciting to believe. “You will never meet anyone more dramatic than me,” Helene jokes. “I called my mom probably 100 times until she answered and was pacing around the house freaking out.”
But the real excitement came the moment she finally saw herself, David, and Lemon as Annalee dolls. “I screamed so loud the whole neighborhood probably heard me. Dave could not believe how much they actually looked like the three of us—especially Lemon. It honestly felt surreal seeing us turned into Annalee characters.”
For Helene, it was a tangible representation of her love story, her family traditions, and the Christmas memories that had shaped her life.
Walking into a Christmas Dream
When the wedding day finally arrived, Helene’s vision became reality. Walking into the reception felt like stepping into another world. “The coziest, most magical Christmas dream,” she recalls.
Everywhere guests looked, there were festive details waiting to be discovered. Glowing Christmas trees cast warm light across the room. Candles flickered throughout the space. Rich reds, greens, and golds created an atmosphere that felt timeless and inviting. The spirit of Christmas was everywhere. But it was the subtle, artisanal touch of Annalee that stole the show. Annalee dolls weren’t just perched on tables; they were woven into the very fabric of the event.
Guests were greeted by the custom Helene, David, and Lemon design set against a backdrop of vintage Annalee Santas and the wedding cake. Each table featured a different Annalee design, ensuring that every guest felt the warmth and whimsy of the brand.
“It felt elegant but still warm and playful at the same time,” Helene said. “The Annalee dolls honestly brought the whole room to life. They added so much personality and charm and made everything feel even more personal instead of just Christmas décor.”
Throughout the evening, guests wandered from display to display, discovering Annalee characters tucked throughout the reception. And then there was the custom design. People couldn’t stop talking about it. “Guests kept coming up to us saying how beautiful and unique everything was, and every single time I said, ‘Okay but make sure you go check out our dolls!'”
The resemblance was uncanny. “People were obsessed with how much they looked like us.”
Adding to the magic were oversized Annalee pieces Helene had spent months tracking down, including a large Santa and Mrs. Claus.
As if the evening wasn’t festive enough, “Santa showed up at the reception, which completely took the atmosphere over the top in the best way possible,” Helene said. For one unforgettable evening, guests truly felt transported into Helene and David’s own Christmas world.
Memories with Vision
But what about the groom? What did David think of his Annalee-themed Christmas wedding? “I didn’t grow up with Annalee the way Helene did,” he says, “but I knew how much it meant to her and her mom, which made it special to me too.” Once he saw everything come together, he understood the vision. “It actually felt really personal and different from any wedding I’ve ever been to.”
Even Helene’s mother became emotional seeing years of family traditions woven into such an important milestone. “I don’t think there was ever a chance this wedding wouldn’t involve Annalee somehow,” she says. “Christmas and Annalee have always been such a big part of our memories together.”
Classic. Magical. Personal.
Asked to describe her wedding in three words, Helene said: “Classic. Magical. Personal.” Those words perfectly capture not only the wedding itself but the role Annalee played in bringing the dream to life.
“I wanted the wedding to feel like stepping into the ultimate Christmas movie, but still feel completely us at the same time.” For Helene, Annalee helped make that possible.
Today, the custom design of Helene, David, and Lemon occupies a place of honor in the couple’s home: “On our kitchen table on a lazy Susan to enjoy year-round,” she says. It’s a daily reminder of a magical Christmas wedding and the traditions that inspired it. More importantly, it’s a reminder of what Annalee has represented throughout her life. Love. Family. Christmas. Joy. And, as Helene puts it in one perfect word: “Magic.”
For generations, Annalee has helped families celebrate Christmas and special events that create traditions to last a lifetime. In Helene’s case, those traditions became part of a fairytale wedding day. It’s proof that the most meaningful celebrations aren’t built around trends, but around the people, memories, and traditions that make us who we are.
Sometimes dreams really do come true. And sometimes, they arrive dressed as an Annalee doll.
